FAQs

Q: Do I need X-rays at every dental visit?
A: Not necessarily. The need for X-rays depends on factors such as your oral health history, current symptoms, and the dentist's assessment of your dental health. Routine X-rays may be recommended annually or biannually for preventive purposes, while additional X-rays may be ordered as needed for specific concerns or treatments.

Q: What’s the cost for X-rays ?
A: Many dental insurance plans cover routine dental exams and X-rays as part of preventive care. However, coverage may vary depending on your insurance provider and specific plan. With our Membership Plan, the cost for the New Patient full mouth series of x rays and Comprehensive Exam is 100% covered.

Q: Can a dental exam detect signs of systemic health issues?
A: Yes, dental exams can sometimes detect signs of systemic health issues that may manifest in the mouth. For example, certain oral symptoms or conditions, such as gum disease, oral infections, or lesions, may be associated with underlying health conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or autoimmune disorders. Dr. Le may refer you to a medical doctor for further evaluation if she suspects an underlying
systemic health issue based on your dental exam findings.

Some Types of Dental X-Rays

Bitewing X-rays: They capture images of the upper and lower teeth in a single area of the mouth. These X-rays are particularly useful for detecting cavities between teeth, assessing the fit of dental fillings, and evaluating the health of the jawbone surrounding the teeth.
Periapical X-rays: Periapical X-rays focus on individual teeth, providing detailed images of the entire tooth, from the crown to the root tip. These X-rays are helpful for diagnosing issues such as tooth decay, abscesses, infections, and abnormalities in the tooth roots or surrounding bone.

Panoramic X-rays: Panoramic X-rays offer a broad view of the entire mouth, capturing images of the teeth, jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJs), and surrounding structures in a single image. These X-rays are valuable for assessing overall dental health, identifying impacted teeth, evaluating the development of wisdom teeth, and
planning orthodontic treatment or oral surgery.

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT): CBCT is a specialized type of dental imaging that provides three-dimensional (3D) images of the oral and maxillofacial structures. CBCT scans offer detailed views of bone, teeth, nerves, and soft tissues, making them invaluable for complex dental procedures such as dental implant
placement, orthognathic surgery, and endodontic treatment.
